Creating Bridges

Pajamas for Seniors is proud to be partnered with Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas – GSNETX. As part of the Council Patch Program Girl Scouts have an opportunity to help improve the quality of life for residents of nursing homes, retirement communities, assisted living and adult day care facilities. Girls will discover that they can create a bridge, bonding with seniors in their communities.

The Girl Scouts will learn to Discover, Connect and Take Action to help seniors.

Discover

Learn more about facilities in Northeast Texas. Pajamas for Seniors can provide a list of the facilities in your area with the most need.

Discover

Connect

Host a pajama drive. Reach out to members of your community. Make brochures to spread the word. Click Here for a Sample Brochure (PDF).

Connect

Take Action

Collect new pajamas from size Small - 6X for both men and women. Top and Bottom sets are essential for men. Either gowns or sets are appropriate for women. Feel free to personalize your pajamas with ribbons, handmade cards or notes.

Take Action

Get Started by contacting the Activities Director of a senior facility. They will have a current census of the number of residents in their facility and will also be able to provide the needed sizes. You will coordinate a delivery date with the Activities Director. If your troop cannot go to the facility, plan to drop off pajamas at the Girl Scout Council of Northeast Texas offices or contact Pajamas for Seniors at info@pajamasforseniors.org to arrange a pick-up from one of our volunteers.

Once scouts have completed the requirements, please complete the online reporting form here to be eligible for a free Pajamas for Seniors Patch.

Please Share Your Experiences with Our Team!

We want to highlight the Troops that have made a commitment to honor the seniors in their area. We would love to have your Troop Number and Photos from your pajama drives showcasing your organization or delivery of the pajamas. Be sure to include pictures of the scouts and seniors who receive your kind donations. Share your story by emailing: info@pajamasforseniors.org

Safety

Remember, keeping girls safe is our first priority!

Girl Scouts should never be alone with facility staff, volunteers or residents. A Troop Leader or Parent of the Girl Scout should always be present. Check with the facility regarding their current COVID restrictions. Dropping off pajamas at the facility entrance might be the only option for the time being. Check with the Activities Director for their guidelines. Ensure that this experience will still be very meaningful to your Troop. One Activities Director compared the day they received pajamas to Christmas morning. Her seniors rarely receive something so nice.

  • Our girls were excited to help with this project knowing so many seniors may have been on “lock down” during the recent COVID pandemic. They felt good knowing they could bring a smile to brighten someone’s day.

  • Pajamas for Seniors is a great organization and I am very happy that GSNETX provided this opportunity to our girls. I had a great response from my troop and others in my community who I wanted to participate to help seniors. It was an energetic feeling to mobilize everyone to do a good tangible deed for our seniors in a time of much needed positivity and hope.

  • Our girls look forward to doing this every year. Even though they weren’t able to personally deliver them to a senior citizen due to COVID-19; they still shopped for them & got to see their appreciation for their PJ’s.

  • The girls used their troop fundraising proceeds to buy pajamas, socks, Chapstick, pens, pads and other things to put into Christmas stockings. They had enough to fill 50 stockings.
